Teaching him what I know and to trust each other. Giving him a push to keep his tempo on a hill, and generally just enjoying it together.

Cycling tip
Ski wear is great for cold weather. Sure you will sweat, but you can always vent or take off. Nothing like toasty fingers and toes on a brisk morning. I use a pull over old snow board jacket. I think flat pedals and boots are the warmest and least costly. For clipless the winter shoe are the way to go. I don't know what happen to lake shoes. I guess too many fair weather ethusiast. The shimano mtb are okay but the rubber on the bottom has torn pretty quickly the water proof goretex is nice. Another key is really putting it into base mode especially on the climbs. I guess easier gearing would be smart where there are hills.

Hoppy Trails
Harvested the hops. A bit late, not a great yeild this year either too dry early on. Brew a nice smash beer with regular briess two row. 8 lbs. Choose the white labs American farmhouse yeast . Hope the hop can break thru. Will probably rack and do a secondary addition let sit for a week. Made a pumkin brew also with a friends pumkin from his garden. not getting a vigorous fermentation, thinking about adding my house wild yeast to mix it up a little. That was made with 6lb munich malt and two big pumkings, corriander, clove cinamon, nutmeg and allspice subtlely mash in. I don't like the heavy spice flavor of most pumkin ales so I wanted to keep the spices muted. Here is a pile of wet hops just picked, about to go into the saison.

Going Going ...
Man seems like yesterday summer just started. Now the crisp clear Fallish weather has arrived. Picked the last of the red tomatoes, not sure the remaining green ones will turn. Made some sauce.
Roasted Tomatoes and Basil for 275 for about 2 hours. Then mash thru a Chinois , then stove top until desire thickness. I like to simmer for a long time, to get a rich flavor without adding salt(maybe a pinch).
Plenty and Plenty of Peppers. Working on different methods for hot sauces, relishes, jelly and salsa. De-seeding and soaking the peppers to get a slight fermentation, this batch I am mixing with canned peaches.
Of course, important to stay relaxed, one of these should do...

Why ride
Suburbia will piss you off. Infrastructure is not in the future plans when developers build thousands and thousands of new homes on old farm land. When it takes 15 mins to go a few hundred yards, it is maddening.
Cycling Tip
Be responsible of your bike:
Bad move He had no reason to go soo far right. the left side was clearly much more open. Pink and red in one swoop. What a duecshbag!

Beer battle
Union Jack - Dated 2/27
Flower Power Best By June - also some dating or batch number off my head - 008 012
Very good beers, both. High on the availbiltiy, and hop profiles are excellent. But the flower power excels, Union jack is also a little more dated, but I digress. I have a couple more 3/13/2012 nugget necter's left...that dual may happen tonight/

Damn the fam
Pa Classic - Monkey Knife fight '12
I was sure as heck ready to get back. Some seriously steeeep gravel roads. For me that is a true classic and the 40 degrees and rain help accentuate that! Thanks SMC.

Big Boy Bumper Cars
I am not a big race car fan, but was watching the Daytona 500 last night. Pretty crazy event. The jet fuel fire was insane...very hard to put out.

Family Trip
Headed out for a family trip kinda last minutely planned, we had a great time.
Staying at Hampton Inn Montage(Sno) mountain. Great view of the mountain and nice accommodations. Headed up Friday after work, our 11th anniversary, too bad we only got one room. Saturday we hiked/walked at Nay Aug park in Scranton.

The park in right in the city, at at a glimpse looks like a little trashy park, but there is a really cool gorge. My phone pics don't really give a good sense of the depth. After exploring the waterfall we headed to the Museum. which was next to a demonstration mine but no longer openhttp://www.ironminers.com/mineforum/viewtopic.php?t=20246.
The Museum housed some cool fossils(some found locally) and an impressive ornithology collection:
And some artwork upstairs but photos were not allowed.
We skied Saturday night. The wind at the top of the mountains were about 20-30 mph sustained. So we only did a few runs. Clay and I decided to try and go below where it would be less windy, but the trail got much more vertical. He ended up walking down a short section, as I carried his skis. The next day the weather was blue bird perfect and the wind had died down. Surprizingly the mountain was just as empty as the night before. No lines is alway nice. Snow was still hard and fast. We skiied until 1pm as the conditions softened and the crowds grew. All in all a good time.

Commuter
One day of commuting and I already feel the disdain cyclist recieve. If our driving is any indication of social standards I would say we are pretty screwed as a society. I get annoyed driving behind a slow driver, i will admit. But it stops at being annoyed. I can't decide which is worst for a cyclist oblivious, or A-hole drivers. When I am inside the white(meaning outside the roadway) and a car rides the white when there is about 5 feet of space to the center yellows, I just can;t tell which one it is... Ass or oblivious. Either way they might be getting a little phlem at the next light. Playing with someone's life is not a joking, funny, or exceptable matter.
